Pilots at the German air carrier CityLine have gone on a 36-hour
strike to back up their wage demands.
The pilots' trade union,
Vereinigung Cockpit, says the strike will end at around noon on
Friday. A spokesman for Cityline's parent company, Lufthansa, said
the impact of the strike was not yet clear, but that disruptions
were expected. CityLine pilots have already staged several
stoppages over the past few weeks to back up their demands in a
wage dispute that has lasted several months. This latest work
stoppage come just days after Lufthansa settled a separate wage
dispute with the services trade union Verdi. This ended a strike by
ground staff that caused hundreds of flight cancellations last
week.
