Two German nationals who were kidnapped from their yacht off the
Yemeni coast at the end of June have been freed.
Local elders said
the two Germans were in Bossaso, the defacto capital of Somalia's
Puntland region, and would be flown home soon. The elders said that
a ransom had been paid for their release. This has not been
confirmed by the Foreign Office in Berlin. The two yachtsmen were
seized by pirates near Yemen before being taken to Puntland, where
they were held until their release.
