Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe said on Monday evening that
power-sharing talks with the opposition had failed to make
progress, but that meetings would continue on Tuesday.
However,
after four hours of discussions, Mugabe said that he is hopeful the
remaining sticking points will be overcome. Negotiations between
Zimbabwe's government and political opposition, led by the head of
the Movement for Democratic Change, Morgan Tsvangirai, are being
held in the capital Harare under the auspices of South African
President Thabo Mbeki.
