Western diplomats have reached agreement on a draft resolution
calling for an immediate truce in the conflict between Russia and
Georgia and have presented it to the full UN Security Council.
Meanwhile US President George Bush has told Moscow that it must
reverse its course in Georgia and withdraw its troops.
Speaking at
the White House, Bush said Moscow's military action had damaged its
world standing and endangered ties with the United States and
Europe. France's foreign minister Bernard Kouchner has appealed to
Moscow to sign a ceasefire agreement proposed by European envoys.
France's president Nicholas Sarkozy will visit Russia and Georgia
on Tuesday. Russia's foreign minister Sergei Ivanov announced that
a truce agreement had to be negotiated by Georgia and the breakaway
