Lebanese security officials say a bomb in the northern city of
Tripoli has killed at least 17 people, including nine soldiers.
The
bomb was reportedly hidden in a briefcase and placed near a bus
stop. It detonated during peak hour traffic. Local media reported
that dozens of people were injured in the blast. So far no one has
claimed responsibility for the attack. The region has been the
scene of fighting between security forces and Islamist militants.
