Русская версияThe German foreign ministry in Berlin has confirmed that two German
engineers kidnapped five weeks ago in Nigeria have been released.
A
ministry spokesman said the men were receiving medical attention
and were well considering the circumstances. The Nigerian militant
group, Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND),
said it had rescued the two construction engineers from another
rebel group holding them hostage. The two Germans were working for
a subsidiary of Bilfinger Berger when they were seized last month
in the oil-rich Niger Delta by unidentified gunmen.
