Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe has met his South African
counterpart, Thabo Mbeki, ahead of a regional summit in
Johannesburg this weekend.
The two leaders discussed a possible
settlement of Zimbabwe's political crisis. Morgan Tsvangirai,
Zimbabwe's opposition leader, is also in Johannesburg for the
Southern African Development Community summit and is expected to
meet Mbeki later in the day. Power-sharing talks between Mugabe and
Tsvangiai stalled last week when they failed to agree on who should
lead a government of national unity. The two are expected to meet
on the sidelines of the SADC summit.
