The secretary general of Zimbabwe's opposition Movement for
Democratic Change says he believes a power-sharing deal with the
country's ruling party will be reached soon.
Tendai Biti was
speaking after the end of a two-day regional summit held in
Johannesburg. Both Zimbabwe's Presdient Robert Mugabe and
opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai attended the weekend summit of
regional leaders in South Africa. However, observers say the
positive spin which the opposition has given the talks could be
read as a strategy to dissuade Mugabe from convening parliament
before agreement is reached on the distribution of power.
