At the Olympics in Beijing, Jamaica has extended its winning streak
in the track events, after Veronica Campbell-Brown won the gold
medal in the women's 200-metre sprint.
Meanwhile, four equestrian
riders have been suspended after their horses tested positive for
doping. Germany's Christian Ahlmann, along with riders from Norway,
Brazil and Ireland were barred from the finals of Thursday's
jumping competition after their horses tested positive for
Capsaicin, which can be used as a painkiller. Earlier on Thursday,
Germany won a bronze medal when Thomas Lurz took came third in the
men's 10-kilometre open water swim.
