Two boats protesting Israel's blockade of the Gaza strip have
arrived at Gaza city's main port.
The 44 protestors on board were
greeted by a crowd of around 2,000 people waving Palestinian flags.
The activists, from 17 countries including Israel, sailed to Gaza
from Cyprus to bring humanitarian aid, in an action designed to
raise awareness of the impact on Palestinians of Israel's blockade.
Israel gave permission for the vessels to dock, after earlier
hinting it would turn them back. Israel has embargoed the territory
since Hamas militants took control of Gaza in a power struggle with
rivals Fatah last year.
