Rescuers in the French Alps have suspended their search for eight
mountaineers who were buried by an avalanche.
Helicopters, rescue
teams and specially trained dogs were removed from the search near
Mont Blanc for fear of further snow slides. Original reports of 10
missing were revised after two Italians showed up safe. Eight other
climbers were rescued or managed to free themselves from the
avalanche after what one survivor said was a wall of ice that came
down on them early on Sunday morning.
